French Inspired Pots
Encrusted with a thick coat of glaze, rustic antique pots from the Provence region of France have caught the attention of designers for many years. Imitate the warmth and character of these pots on modern day pottery with a few tricks using Design Master COLORTOOL Sprays.
TOOLS AND MATERIALS
Design Master Sprays - COLORTOOL Sprays ALMOND, WALNUT WOOD TONE, MESS MASTER, SAFFRON, HUNTER GREEN (or desired colors), MASTER SHINE or DRESDEN CLEAR GLAZE - 4" terra cotta rose pot or terra cotta style of choice
TECHNIQUE
- Spray two light coats of Almond over the lower 2/3rds of pot. Then with short bursts of spray, splatter paint in this area with Walnut Wood Tone.
- Again with short bursts, spray this area with Mess Master to erratically blend colors together. Let dry.
- Hold the bottom of the pot with the rim turned sideways. Disregarding the label directions, point the nozzle close to the rim and spray a heavy coat of Saffron or Hunter Green around the rim and slightly below. As paint runs begin, rotate the pot to create an irregular edge. Allow paint to set before placing it upright. Let dry.
- Spray rimof pot heavily with Dresden Clear Glaze or triple thick Master Shine. Let drips run. For more control of drip pattern, hold pot as in step 3 and rotate to area desired for runs. Let dry.
- Lightly spray Hunter Green just below the rim. Then spray Mess Master over this to disipate the color. Let dry.
- At the base of the pots spray ColorTEX FLURRY to mimic salt accumulations.
