Trend colors and fashionable hydrangeas take on a winter appeal in a bouquet suited for the whole holiday season.
TOOLS AND MATERIALS
Design Master Sprays – Premium Metallic Spray 24KT Pure Gold, Glitter Spray Gold – wicker handled basket, Styrofoam Brand Foam block, 5 silk hydrangeas in lavender/purple hues, 2 artificial spruce branches, 1 pkg brown glass millimeter balls, 1 pkg purple glass millimeter balls, 6 peacock feather eyes, gold spool wire, 5 pine cones,1 bolt 1½" green/gold mesh holiday ribbon, wire clippers, glue gun & glue sticks, 6 wood picks, paper towel
TECHNIQUE
- On a protected surface, spray basket with 24KT Pure Gold. Apply 2 light coats of color to all exterior surfaces. Let dry between coats.
- Insert and secure Styrofoam to basket. Arrange floral elements in a mounded fashion.
- Clip spruce stem into smaller sections. Insert into foam creating the outer dimension of design.
- Remove several hydrangea leaves. Spray 24KT Pure Gold into crumpled paper towel and wipe over leaf surface. Re-spray into cellophane as needed. Let dry. This creates a gilded look on the foliage.
- Spray hydrangeas with Glitter Gold. Let dry.
- Cut hydrangea stems and insert in a mounded fashion into the foam.
- Wire hydrangea leaves onto wooden picks and insert into foam or glue leaves into place.
- Wire pine cones onto a wooden stick and insert in foam or glue cones into place.
- Clip lengths of ribbon, arrange in a loop with a tail and secure in place.
- Arrange millimeter balls and secure in place.
- Tightly wrap gold wire around a short stem of the peacock eye. Leave a length of wire to attach to a wood pick. Insert the pick into the foam and let feather fall over bouquet.
